A note from Pastor Paul concerning the Santa Rosa Fires and our meeting on Sunday, October 15.

Dear SOMA,

The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:3–5

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too."

God remains the unchanging Father of mercies and God of all comfort. I am so thankful for our church community that continues to extend the mercies and comfort of God even as we are seeking mercy and comfort from God through these very hard days.

Lord willing we will meet on Sunday morning at 10am for a time to cry and share and sing and hear together from God’s Word. This will be such a good time for us! We will have our Nursery and our Pre K - Kindergarten classes ready. Kids that are 1st grade and up will stay in the worship service with their parents. And we plan to have extra snacks for both before and after the worship service. Feel free to come early to see one another and offer a hug and have something to eat before the worship service. Is there anyone you know affected by everything that doesn’t have a home church? Why not invite them to come with you! The worst that can happen is they will say “no.

If there are any needs please let me know so that we can offer assistance. Or if you have a spare bed or room that is available let me know. And of course please continue to pray for the firefighters and law enforcement workers. If you are out and you see some of these amazing public servants please thank them for all that they are doing.

Psalm 46:1 reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” May that be the meditation of our heart this evening.
